We make Listify, so we're one of the apps you'd be moving to. Read accordingly.
Swym's registry app is a genuinely modern product, which makes this a different article from the Gift Reggie one. That migration is mostly about leaving something that stopped moving. This one is about a specific structural problem that has nothing to do with either app's quality, and if you skip it you'll find out about it from your customers.
The one thing that decides your timing
When a guest buys something off a registry, the registry has to remember it. Otherwise the next guest buys the same thing, and the couple ends up with three of the same kettle and an awkward conversation.
That memory is the part that doesn't transfer cleanly.
Gift Reggie's export carries purchased quantities directly, so a registry that's sixty percent fulfilled arrives sixty percent fulfilled. A Swym export is not the same shape. What you get is the registries and their items, and the record of what's already been bought has to be rebuilt from your Shopify orders rather than read out of the file.
For most stores that reconstruction is possible, because registry purchases went through Shopify checkout and the orders are still there. It's work, and it's the part of the migration worth asking about first. Where it isn't possible, in-flight registries restart at zero gifted, and that's a customer-facing event rather than an internal one.
Which gives you a straightforward rule. If your registries are quiet, move whenever. If you're in the middle of your season with lists that are half bought, ask us to check the order matching before you commit to anything, because the answer changes when you should do this.
Where Swym genuinely wins
One vendor for wishlist and registry. Swym also makes Wishlist Plus, which holds 4.7 stars from 1,462 reviews, a far larger base than any registry app on the store including this one. If you run both, you have one vendor, one support channel and one billing relationship. We don't have an equivalent to that, and if it's the thing you value, it's a good reason to stay where you are.
A free tier. Swym's registry app starts free for up to five active registries, which is more than some competitors offer and lets a store test properly before paying anything.
Recent, responsive support. Reviews through 2026 repeatedly describe custom fields and small changes being turned around quickly. A 5-star review from 20 March 2026 describes a custom event field being implemented after a request. That's the same kind of responsiveness we'd claim for ourselves, and it's fair to say they have it.
Why stores leave anyway
The recurring complaint in Swym's registry reviews is about their code and your theme.
“wipe out all of our code on the live theme”
That's a one-star review from 6 November 2025, and an earlier complaint of the same shape dates from 11 December 2024. Two reviews is not a pattern you should treat as universal, and we'd rather give you the dates and let you weigh them than characterise them for you.
What we can tell you is how our side is built, because it's the direct answer to that worry. Listify ships as a theme app extension. It never writes into your theme's Liquid, it creates no script tags, and Shopify removes its blocks when you uninstall. The widget renders inside a shadow root, so your theme's CSS and ours can't reach each other in either direction. Switching to a genuinely different theme means re-enabling the embed and re-adding blocks, which is true of every app in this category, but a theme update doesn't touch it.
The second thing reviews raise is momentum. The newest review on the registry app is dated 20 April 2026, and the most recent developer reply we found is dated 24 December 2024. Both figures are from their public listing, read on 3 September 2026, and both are things you can check yourself in a minute.
What comes across
Registry names, event types and event dates. Every item on each list, with the quantity requested. Registrant and co-registrant contact details. Shipping addresses where the export carries them.
What doesn't: registry passwords, which are stored hashed everywhere and so have nothing to hand over. Registrants set a new one after the move. Item ordering and any per-item fields specific to Swym's own schema arrive normalised rather than preserved.
And gifted progress, per the section above, which is the one that matters.
If you also run Wishlist Plus
Wishlist Plus is a separate app with separate data, and moving your registries doesn't touch it. You can migrate registries to us and leave your wishlists exactly where they are.
Worth knowing if you're weighing the whole relationship rather than one app: Wishlist Plus removed its free plan in February 2026, and its entry tier moved from $19.99 to $29.99. Those figures are from its listing, read on 3 September 2026. That doesn't affect a registry migration, but it does affect the "one vendor for both" calculation, which is the strongest argument for staying.
Listify includes wishlists alongside registries, so consolidating is possible. It's a bigger decision than this article covers, and the honest position is that Wishlist Plus is a more established wishlist product than ours by review count.
How the move runs
- 1
Install Listify and request your Swym export
Swym keeps running throughout, so your registrants carry on using the app they already know while we work. Ask for the export untouched rather than tidied.
- 2
We check the export and the order matching together
Two questions at once: do your registry items resolve to variants in your Shopify catalog, and can past registry purchases be matched back to the right registry and item. The second one is the Swym-specific question and it's why we look before quoting a date.
- 3
We bring the registries across and tell you what came with them
Including a plain list of anything that didn't resolve, and where gifted progress could and couldn't be reconstructed. You see this before your customers see anything.
- 4
You import the redirect file, then uninstall
The redirects go in before the uninstall, so there's no window where a shared registry link resolves to nothing. Then Swym comes off and Listify goes live.
What it costs on each side
| Swym Gift Lists and Registries | Listify | |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | Yes, up to five registries | Yes, 5 active registries |
| Entry paid tier | $15 for twenty-five | $9.99/mo for 20 |
| Top published tier | $99 for two hundred and fifty | $39.99/mo for 250 |
| Trial | Not verified | 7 days, one lifetime budget per store |
| Launched | March 2023 | April 2025 |
| Companion wishlist app | Wishlist Plus, 4.7 from 1,462 | Wishlists included |
| Revenue share | None | None |
A null cell means we couldn't verify it from the public listing, which is a different claim from "no".
Questions, answered honestly
- Will our half-bought registries stay half bought?
- It depends on whether those purchases went through your Shopify store and can still be matched to the right registry and item. Often they can. We check before quoting you a date, because the answer changes whether you should move now or after your season.
- Do we have to move our wishlists too?
- No. Wishlist Plus is a separate app with separate data, and a registry migration doesn't touch it. Plenty of stores would move one and not the other.
- What happens to the registry links our customers already shared?
- They stop resolving when Swym is uninstalled, because the path in the middle of those URLs belongs to Swym rather than to your store. A generated redirect file recovers them, with one row per registry, and it goes in before the uninstall so there's no gap.
- Will this touch our theme?
- Listify ships as a theme app extension. It doesn't write into your Liquid, it creates no script tags, and Shopify removes its blocks when the app is uninstalled. That's the direct answer to the complaint the reviews above describe.
- How long does it take?
- We give you a date once we've seen the export and checked the order matching. That second check is what makes a Swym migration harder to quote blind than a Gift Reggie one.
If you're still deciding rather than moving, the roundup of seven registry apps covers both of these and five others, ordered by review count so we don't get to put ourselves first. The migration page covers the process for any source app, and what happens to your customers' links goes deeper on the redirect question above.
